European Student Council Symposium 2024
The ISCB Student Council and its Regional Student Groups are thrilled to announce the 8th Student Council Symposium in Europe.
Primarily aimed at early-career researchers in bioinformatics, computational biology and related fields, this symposium serves as a platform for young researchers in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics.
Attendees can showcase their research to a global audience, establish connections within the computational biology community, and enhance soft skills in a collaborative environment that encourages the exchange of ideas and knowledge.
This year’s edition features:
Keynote talks
Best poster and best talk prizes
Ice-breaking and networking sessions
Many more exciting and new segments
This event precedes ECCB2024, and registration will be handled through the ISCB conference's registration system.
We hope to meet you in September!!

SEPT 17th
AUGUST, 2024 - CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Abstract Submission
We invite abstracts from research typical to bioinformatics and computational biology, which is in progress (unpublished) or previously published (but has never been submitted to ISCB Student Council Symposium before) for consideration for oral and/or poster presentation. The deadline for submitting an abstract for both oral and poster presentations has been extended until 30th August, 2024, 23:59 hrs EEST (UTC/GMT +3).
Detailed guidelines
- Your work should broadly fall into the domain of bioinformatics and computational biology.
- Unpublished works are encouraged, but we accept both your own unpublished and published work (but has never been submitted to ISCB Student Council Symposium before).
- All abstracts will be evaluated based on scientific relevance criteria (i.e. 1. clarity, 2. usability, 3. uniqueness, 4. relevance to the CompBio field, and 5. completeness).
- Please keep the abstract title as concise as possible, while still effectively representing your research.
- The abstract should not exceed 250 words and must be structured into four separate sections:
- Background: the context and purpose of the study
- Methodology
- Result: significant findings from the study
- Conclusions: brief summary and potential implications
- Your abstract must not contain your title/position or personal information (e.g., affiliation). These details will be collected through the submission system.
- The presentation is individual (having multiple co-authors is okay, but only the presenting author will get the presentation/award certificate. All authors’ information will be included in the abstract book).
- One person can deliver one presentation only (not more than one).
- The presenting author must be a part of the original research work.
- Submitters may choose to have their submission reviewed for “oral only”, “oral or poster,” or “poster only”. If you select “oral or poster,” your abstract will first be considered for an oral presentation. If, unfortunately, it doesn’t secure an oral presentation slot, it will be evaluated for potential inclusion in the poster presentation category.
- Please do not use abbreviations or references in the abstract.
