In this episode, we celebrate Women’s Month and the inclusion of women in STEM fields by bringing two outstanding female researchers at different stages of their careers in bioinformatics and computational biology.
Join us for our debut episode as we chat with Dr. Ana Conesa, a computational biologist with over 20 years of experience using high-quality bioinformatic methods to analyze gene expression data (http://conesalab.org/ ). Dr. Ana Conesa is a member of the renowned ISCB COSI HitSeq group (https://www.hitseq.org/ ), and in this episode, she explores research and methods involving long-read sequencing technologies.
Next, we also chat with Dr. Melike Dönertaş, a rising star in the research, to dissect the links between the microbiome and the aging process using computational methods (https://donertas-group.github.io/ ). As a junior scientist, she brings out all her experiences, from transitioning from being a student to becoming a principal investigator. Moreover, we also explore her strong legacy at the ISCB Student Council and her journey in supporting bioinformatics education worldwide, especially in her home country, Turkey.
